Hi-tech fashion designer and innovator Anouk Wipprecht introduced SCREENDRESS, a 3D printed dress which uses brain signals to measure the wearer’s mental health state such as stress levels, visualizing and conveying this information through displays simulating dilating eyes. Wipprecht’s approach and work give a tangible sense of the potential of new medical devices made attractive through fashion-forward design.
In her artist talk, Wipprecht also suggested that “fashion tech” creates the opportunity for more women to get involved in fields such as robotics and engineering traditionally dominated by men and encourages diversity in the science field.
